TIFTON, GA - Tift County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Britt Wilson as the new Varsity Boys Wrestling Head Coach at Tift County High School. A 2006 graduate of Tift County High School, Coach Wilson brings 14 years of coaching experience, including seven years specializing in wrestling, along with a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a passion for athlete development to the Blue Devils wrestling program.
Coach Wilson has been an integral part of Tift Countyβs wrestling program, serving as the Varsity Assistant Wrestling Coach since 2023. Prior to this role, he played a pivotal role in Tift County Middle Schoolsβ wrestling program while also serving as the head coach of the Middle School football team. In addition to his wrestling coaching duties, he currently serves as an assistant coach for the Tift County High School football team. His coaching philosophy focuses on developing discipline, teamwork, and resilience, both on and off the mat.
A graduate of Valdosta State University, Coach Wilson holds a Specialist degree in Coaching Pedagogy (2017), a Master of Education in Teaching (2012), and a Bachelor of Arts in History (2010). His extensive educational background, combined with his coaching certifications in physical education, secondary education, first aid/CPR, and concussion safety, ensures that Tift Countyβs wrestling athletes will receive top-tier coaching and mentorship.
Throughout his career, Coach Wilson has demonstrated a commitment to building successful programs, fostering a positive team culture, and ensuring the growth of student-athletes. His accomplishments include leading multiple middle school teams to state championships, assisting the Varsity program to a Region AAAAAA Championship in 2023-2024, and earning numerous team accolades over the years.

Tift County High School Principal Jennifer Johnson also expressed her enthusiasm for Coach Wilsonβs new role, highlighting the strong relationships he has built with students throughout the school. βCoach Wilson is more than just a coachβheβs a mentor and role model for our student-athletes. As the new Varsity Head Wrestling Coach, Coach Wilson aims to further strengthen the program by emphasizing skill development, academic success, and a competitive mindset. He is eager to build upon the programβs successes and lead the Blue Devils to even greater achievements in the upcoming seasons. Additionally, he wants to continue to grow the program and encourage athletes to participate in multiple sports, believing that multi-sport participation will facilitate growth among all Tift County athletic programs.
