After meeting with EMA and City and County Officials and out of an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to close Tift County Schools on Wednesday, August 30th for all students and employees.
It is unsafe to operate buses when sustained wind speeds are in excess of 35 - 40 mph. We have been informed that there is a 50% chance of sustained winds of over 40 mph. They anticipate that the storm could move further west which would increase the likelihood of us receiving these winds.
We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the day on Wednesday and make a decision regarding any possible closure on Thursday, August 31st at that time.
Activities scheduled for tonight will continue as planned, unless otherwise posted. All activities for tomorrow have been canceled.
