TCHS ESOL Program Field Trip

Students from TCHS’s ESOL program visited the Okefenokee Swamp Park as part of a Tift County Foundation for Educational Excellence grant awarded to Jeanna Waddell.  Students toured the swamp by boat and train, observing animals in their natural habitats.  They walked through Pioneer Island and learned how the natives lived in the swamp.  Afterwards, students got a lesson in the importance of food webs in our environment and how a natural disaster or invasive species can threaten a food web.  Finally, students had hands-on experience with three animals in the Okefenokee Swamp, the alligator, corn snake, and turtle.
